A picture of Simon the owner of Square Jaw Fabrications wearing a welding helmet

Hello, I’m Simon and I run Square Jaw Fabrications.

I have 39 years experience in engineering, welding and fabrication and offer a bespoke service from my unit in Redruth, Cornwall. After a BTEC Eng at college, I completed an apprenticeship in toolmaking and then qualified as an engineer in aerospace and manufacturing. From my formative years as a toolmaker and tool setter in mould making for the injection moulding industry, I spent the rest of my career in architectural welding and fabrication and through different employers to marine fabrication where I specialised in aluminium superstructure and marine grade stainless parts. I have acquired numerous welding codings and qualifications from aerospace, structural, pipework and more in multiple processes. I spent 7 years as a Further Education qualified teacher in Engineering, Welding and Fabrication.

Why am I called Square Jaw Fabrications?

Hint… It’s not because I have a square jaw! The image you see above is a toolmaker’s vice known as a Square Jaw Vice. When I became a time served toolmaker I was given this by my mentor, Dave, an incredible engineer and master toolmaker. I still use this same vice today and so the name Square Jaw Fabrications was born.
